In today’s podcast episode, I sit down with Tad Hargrave from Marketing for Hippies and we talk all about how to use marketing and sales strategies NOT as smarmy high pressure, inauthentic tactics where the “sale” is the only goal but rather as filtering tools to find the ideal clients who are the BEST match for your program. This way, you can make boatloads of money while being of service to the people you truly feel called to help. And all without ever feeling icky, “salesy” or out of alignment with your values. Because...integrity…

When I started my career as a nutritionist, it never occured to me in a million years that I was going to have to sell my services… to actual people.  Sales calls? Hellls no. The idea of having a conversation with a potential client where I “sold” them my services just felt all kinds of icky. Besides, why wouldn’t EVERYONE want to know what I had to share?  Who wouldn’t want to improve their health and quality of life?! I legit believed in the “build it and they will come” strategy.

Long story short, that wasn’t a solid strategy for me and I ended up bawling in my car surrounded by stacks of shiny brochures that no one ever saw, thousands of dollars in debt and having to ask to break my lease on clinic space. You can read more about that time in my life HERE.

A decade later - here is one of my BIGGEST lessons… it is it absolutely possible to sell aka share your offer with potential ideal clients without feeling icky or smarmy.  And that’s what we are going to be talking about today!

In today’s conversation, Tad shares some awesome put-into-action-today tips on where to start and how he reconciles his hippy values with the digital marketing world.  You’re also in for some spectacular storytelling (there’s an epic story about a man and his horse) as well as the surprising number of things that we agree on… and the spirited discussion around the things we differ on!

More About Tad Hargrave:

Tad Hargrave is a hippy who developed a knack for marketing (and then learned how to be a hippy again). For almost a decade, he has been touring his marketing workshops around Canada, bringing refreshing and unorthodox ideas to conscious entrepreneurs and green businesses that help them grow their organizations and businesses (without selling their souls).

This all feels like a minor miracle as Tad spent his early marketing days learning and applying some very inauthentic, high pressure, extremely gross and pushy marketing approaches. After a decade of unlearning and unpacking that whole scene – he now feels ready and able to help other people find ways to market that feel wonderful.
You can connect with Tad via his website or on Facebook.
